Move Your Body Up and Down and ..... Push Up!

I never said I was a role model.
I aim to change this.
I am going to do a crap load of pushups. Everyday.
Man pushups, not girly ones.
Then, I will be able to do more than you and you will be forced to look up to me.
More on this later.

Pure Awesomeness

The purchase of this pair of leggings was necessary for several reasons:
1. To offset the classiness that is becoming my wardrobe
2. To wear to a function that could arise and require such an item (and as I do not like to wear pants, they would be the only rational choice of bottom-attire)
3. There is a stick-man fishing on each of the legs, and he caught a stick-shark
Best purchase of the year, keeping the Bruce Springsteen LP's and feather earrings out of the picture.

Me Gusto

Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of things that make me happy. I find it very uplifting and self-satisfying to take a moment and recognize the things that make me smile and bring good memories and thoughts into my days. On days I want to label "Sadness" or "Gouge my eyes out with talons because this comparative politics essay is frustrating me" I can think back to the list, bring an item from it into my day, thus labeling it "At least I wore a shirt with an animal on it" or "I took Edward Cullen home from the library at 1am, did you?"
Here is my list:
1. Ma' horses shirt, from Calgary AB. It has a painting of horse on it
2. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
3. Cranberry Gingerale
4. Clean Sheet Sunday
5. The word "brilliant"
6. Cranberry Gingerale. Again.  It IS Christmas-in-a-can
7. The piano. I want one. Can I have yours?
8. The crackling of records
9. My car, Edward Cullen
10. White tshirts
11. Spicyaki - it is teryaki and spicy hot together, a savory combination

Lest We Forget

I was going to write something related to November 11 and war, but the announcers of CBC Ottawa have me turned around and completely distracted. The announcers of the ceremony in Ottawa this morning commented numerous times on the Governor General's choice of attire - she wore a Canadian Forces green uniform. Respectful, but certainly not deserving of focused discussion on Remembrance Day. I lost track of how many times they brought it up. Geez Louise, some people, I'll tell you what.

Paste Magazine: Go Read It.

Paste magazine recently posted their list of the top 50 albums of the last decade. Check it out below so we can compare notes.

Paste's 50 Best Albums Of The Decade - List - Stereogum

Okay, you read it, right? I have two suggestions to Paste and if you know me at all you should be able to guess the first item:
1. NO Bruce??? Paste should be ashamed of itself (wag of my finger)
2. For putting Outkast before Bon Iver.

To end this, I highly recommend you check out Paste magazine - do what I did: be so excited for the next issue release that you go buy what you thought was the next issue, thinking the whole way to the cash register "Gee, they sure didn't change the cover art much this month... weird.... it looks so familiar... oh, sorry? how much... debit..."
And three pages in, you realize you bought last month's edition because the bookstore is behind on the times a week or so.

Akon Confuses Me. Bears Do Not.

i love books.
i love the smell.
i love flipping through them.
i love what mysteries they contain.

There was a time when I was only interested in non-fiction books, however, this summer I began to rediscover the classics - Famous Last Words, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Nineteen Eighty Four, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, The Picture of Dorian Gray. You get the idea.

So, imagine my delight when a friend tells me about the overstock sale the university library today. Yes, I was very excited. What treasures would be awaiting?
Enter the library. First book I see is "Skating"-something - a book dedicated to large photos of figure skaters, many jumping into the air doing splits. I contemplated buying it for my mom. She likes figure skating (the reason I think I was put into the sport for a few years). Clearly a treasure, but not for me.

So browse browse browse I did. Then, there it was... "BEAR"

Not only did the four-letter word attract me, but it did seem like a familiar title. The kind of title one has perhaps heard uttered from an elder's mouth, or some other wise bookworm-like influence on my life. I immediately recited the description to my friend, who also felt the book sounded familiar. We were proved not-crazy because a boy overheard us and said there was a mural at the uni based on this book. I was sold. Plus it sounds intriguing and it recieved the Governor's General award.

"He belonged to the place - lived behind the house, chained to his shed. She took him swimming, let him lie before the fire - grew to like him. They became lovers" This is about a lady and a bear. You would buy it too, admit it.

Here is the fantastic cover:

And it was 50 cents. Hells bells!
